Even though fewer babies Scottish Viking names female were given Isla in 2020 than in previous years, Isla was the most popular baby girl’s name in 2020. This is part of a more significant trend that has seen a decrease in the number of births and the number of options for baby names for both boys and girls over time.

Among mothers aged 35 and up, Isla was rated the best. However, mothers under the age of 25 were only ranked 7th in this category. A unique name was given to approximately one out of every thirty baby girls in 1974. According to the American Academy of Paediatrics, every eighth baby girl was given a unique name in 2020.

It climbed two spots in the overall rankings from the previous year and surpassed all other names for the first time to become the most popular for girls. Olivia (previously the most common name, now second) and Emily were the most popular names for girls in 2020, compared to 2019.

In addition, the number of female Scottish Viking names are instances where (previously second most common, now third most common) decreased by more significant amounts.
